Oh no, those jobs have disappeared…

After reading another of those articles about jobs that will disappear because of AI (be scared!). I decided to list 5 examples of jobs that have disappeared in the past due to technological revolutions; and 5 antical jobs that still remain…

My message here is:

1/ Yes, technology takes away jobs. Those jobs were usually extremely labour intensive and physically painful. I let you decide if you want to call it progression or regression…

2/ Some jobs still remain, you don’t know why… Actually just because we don’t want to let go of them. And we use our dollars to perpetuate those traditions.

So will your job disappear? If people want to maintain it, it won’t. Plus, AI is seriousely not ready to steal the job of a Journalist as I have read latelyon one of those articles.

Disappeared (as far as I know in France)

The 6 rule of AI as per Nadella

# AI shall be designed to assist humanity

# AI shall do dangerous work like mining

# AI shall respect human autonomy

# AI shall be transparent

# AI shall be intelligible

>”We want not just intelligent machines but intelligible machines,” says Nadella. “People should have an understanding of how the technology sees and analyses the world”.

# AI shall maximize efficiencies without destroying the dignity of people.

> “We need broader, deeper, and more diverse engagement of population .

25 lessons from Jack Welch

A heavy reporting system can suffocate any company by propaging the feeling that the teams are not trusted and the senior management is trying to fingerpoint.

How to avoid that: empowering, being reactive and solution driven! Teams are just the most important element of any companies.

$ 36 -37 B oil project

See original image

This is supposely one of the wildest bet in the oil future. A project etimated between $36-37B (just $1B difference)  to expand the Tengiz development in Kazakhstan for an adiditional 250,000 to 300,000 barrels a day.

Will Chevron make this bullish bet that oil demand will continue to grow through the next decade and beyond?

If so, the Tengiz expansion probably will begin pumping barrels in 2021 or 2022.

Background: Discovered in 1979, Tengiz was too technically challenging for Soviet engineers to develop. A blowout in a well called T-37 in June 1985 blazed for more than 400 days before it was extinguished by U.S. well-control experts, according to a history of the field published by Tengizchevroil.

This guy explains it so well!

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella describes in this article his vision about Artificial Intelligence: limits, threats and opportunity.

“A.I. must maximize efficiencies without destroying the dignity of people: It should preserve cultural commitments, empowering diversity. We need broader, deeper and more diverse engagement of populations in the design of these systems. The tech industry should not dictate the values and virtues of this future.”

“A.I. must be designed for intelligent privacy AAA sophisticated protections that secure personal and group information in ways that earn trust.”

“A.I. must have algorithmic accountability so that humans can undo unintended harm. We must design these technologies for the expected and the unexpected.”

“A.I. must guard against bias, ensuring proper and representative research so that the wrong heuristics cannot be used to discriminate. ”
